The Flyby #1
Skiing, rockets, and kiteboarding
1. Business
It’s been hilarious to watch the negative fallout Vail Resorts ($MTN) has been getting due to their horrible job of handling this year’s ski patrol strike. My latest snoozer party trick is to tell people about the price difference of skiing in North America compared to Europe. I still shock myself at the punchline! Anyway, videos like this are fascinating.
2. Health
Biohacker Bryan Johnson did an interview with Jay Shetty this week and, to be honest, I didn’t get through much of the interview because I was just so confused by what this man looks like. I first saw a video of him a couple of years ago and since then, I think he looks half as old. Maybe I’ll finish the interview but for now, I’m just weirded out.
3. Science
Elon Musk’s team at SpaceX once again left the world in awe with this week’s Starship Flight Test. The Super Heavy booster successfully re-docked to the launch site but Starship suffered a “rapid unscheduled disassembly”. Incredible branding—I need to apply that to my life mistakes.
4. Military
Zero Blog Thirty, a military-focused Barstool Sports podcast I’ve followed here and there over there last few years, is ending. After almost 10 years and tons of impressive interviews of important people in the military, it looks like they’re moving on to something new.
5. Awesome
Lasse Walker, previously known for other insane kiteboarding stunts, recently did an insane jump over a Red Bull plane. Kiteboarding and planes… two of my favorite things.
