At Nimitz Hall, do you share the sink with another candidate? i.e. one sink? Or two? I read and re-read what you wrote and I wasn’t quite sure.

Can you describe the sink/toilet set-up at King Hall a bit more? Read elsewhere on the internet that the showers are “shared” although you get a curtain. More interested in the sink situation at King Hall.

Be it Nimitz or King, do you have essentially unlimited sink time/access?

Basically asking these two questions as it relates to shaving since we need to be clean-shaven at all times. Thanks.

Things may have changed since I was there, but when you first get there and until SOC phase, you stay in Nimitz. Nimitz is much newer and nicer and is set up where you and a roommate will share a room, sink, and toilet. Then, with another set of two roommates, the four of you will share a shower.

In King Hall, the rooms only have beds/storage. You'll make the long walk to the communal bathrooms every time you need to pee/shower/use the sink. The communal bathrooms have something like 5 showers, 5 toilets, and 10 sinks or so. It can be very busy in the bathrooms in the AM when everyone is getting ready at once but can also be fun.

I received advice to bring a sleeping bag to sleep in on top of my neatly made bed for inspections. I'm suspicious as to whether this will actually be allowed at OCS, particularly in the first few weeks. Is this a good idea? Will I have enough time in the morning to stow my sleeping bag in the two drawer? It certainly seems like it would be faster than completely remaking the bed every morning.

Yes, this is great advice. You have what's called a 2-drawer, and that will have a combo lock on it all day, but you basically have access to it whenever you want. The only time you'll be asked to open it (I never saw such a thing) is if you had contraband. No one sleeps in there bed, although the OCR says candidates shall.
